About the Artist:
“I am not trying to make a statement with my art other than to appreciate the
everyday world around me.”
Carole Swindall Poole was born in Opelika, Alabama into a family of artisans and
musicians, so it is perfectly fitting that she has chosen art as her profession.
She graduated from Auburn University with a BS degree in Art Education and then
moved to Georgia where she and her husband have raised their five children.
While in the Atlanta area, she worked in graphic design for 15 years and taught
art in a number of venues.
Mostly self-taught, Carole loves the vibrant, luminous quality that transparent
watercolor gives her. She occasionally paints with acrylics and oils because she
feels it is important to experiment in order to grow as an artist. Carole
expresses herself in a traditional, realistic style with her subject matter
often consisting of the everyday objects that we, the viewer, might otherwise
bypass. She uses the play of sunlight and shadows in her paintings, and puts
into each one a quality that evokes warm feelings of serenity, beauty and even
spirituality.

Her work has been juried into numerous shows and exhibitions and has garnered
many regional and national awards. Carole is a Signature Member of the Georgia
Watercolor Society and an Advanced Member of Merit in the Atlanta Artists
Center, where she serves on the board. Her biography is included in Who's Who of
American Women.
Although watercolor is her primary focus, Carole is also well-known as a tile
painter and designer and has graced the halls of many Georgia schools with
colorful wall murals.
Her wonderful bounty of images, bathed in soft, southern light, have made their
way into many private and corporate collections.
